Building Sentences

Making Sentences

English sentences follow an order, like cars in a lane. First comes the person or thing we are talking about, then what they do, then who or what they do it to. 'The dog chased the cat.' Change the order and you change the whole meaning: 'The cat chased the dog.' Word order is one of the most important rules in English.

A sentence tells a complete idea, with a naming part and a telling part.
