How, When and Where Words

Adjectives describe nouns. But what describes an action? If a dog runs, we might want to say the dog runs quickly, or runs here, or runs now. The words quickly, here and now are adverbs. They add extra information to verbs — telling us how, when or where something happens.

An adverb is a word that tells us more about a verb — how, when or where.
