Joining Words — Conjunctions

Joining Words

Short sentences are good, but sometimes two ideas belong together. 'I like tea.' 'I like coffee.' We can join them: 'I like tea and coffee.' The little word 'and' is a conjunction — a joining word. Conjunctions are the glue of language. They let us connect words and ideas so we don't have to speak in tiny, choppy pieces.

A conjunction is a word that joins words or ideas together.
