Mass tells how heavy something is. We measure it in grams (g) and kilograms (kg).
• A small thing (a chocolate) is measured in grams.
• A heavy thing (a school bag, a watermelon) is measured in kilograms.
• 1 kg = 1000 g
We weigh things on a balance or a weighing scale.

Problem: Which unit weighs a watermelon — grams or kilograms?
- Kilograms — a watermelon is heavy.

Capacity — Millilitres & Litres
Capacity tells how much liquid a container can hold. We measure it in millilitres (ml) and litres (L).
• A spoon or a glass holds a few millilitres.
• A bottle or a bucket holds litres.
• 1 litre = 1000 ml

Problem: Which holds more — a bucket or a cup?
