To add or subtract money, line up the decimal points (rupees with rupees, paise with paise) and calculate as usual.
Worked example
Problem: Add ₹12.50 + ₹7.25.

Making Change & Money Problems
To find change, subtract the cost from the money given. For multi-step problems, work out the total cost first, then the change.
Example: a book costs ₹85 and a pen ₹15. You pay with ₹200. Total = ₹100, so change = 200 − 100 = ₹100.

Problem: You buy items for ₹128 and pay ₹200. Change?
- 200 − 128 = ₹72.
Answer: 200 − 128 = ₹72.
